Course Descriptions
Eighth Grade Chorus is year-long performance and skills based class that presents two evening concerts annually. Students considering this level course must be responsible and independent learners who consider continuing music in high school. Eighth Grade Chorus students should be able to confidently sing alone or with a group. Eighth Grade Chorus students will be able to be an effective member of ensemble with attention to developing vocal techniques and literacy skills. This includes:
To be eligible for Eighth Grade Chorus, students must also successfully complete a prior year in chorus or a nine-week piano/introduction to voice class with recommendation from the teacher.
- Integrate correct group and individual rehearsal and performance skills.
- Interpret music symbols in aural, sight, and written music.
- Identify correct terminology when responding to music through individual and group performance and writing.

Sixth Grade Chorus is a semester-long performance and skills based class that will present one evening concert per semester. Students in this group are developing responsibility and skills to be an independent and group learner. Sixth Grade students must be interested in learning to sing from sight, perform within a group, and vocal techniques. Sixth Grade students will be establishing effective techniques of an ensemble member with attention to learning vocal techniques and literacy skills. This includes:
